This paper describes the performance of and gives an early view into the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of an NGINX-based CDN running on Cavium ThunderX based servers. TIRIAS Research has found Cavium’s first-generation ThunderX to have roughly equivalent performance and slightly lower power consumption compared to a mainstream Intel Xeon E5 processor across many NGINX usage scenarios.
